South Africa has successfully competed in every Maccabiah since the 2nd Games in 1935, with a total of 3486 delegates representing SA, bringing home a massive total of 827 medals.
Two 2021 workshops with various stakeholders have been held to draw up initial plans. The Games Committee is also being finalised and will be announced shortly, together with the full list of Sports Convenors and applications for available Coaching and Management positions.
As always, it is our objective to take a well prepared, motivated and competitive team to Maccabiah 2021.
We are exploring competing in up to 22 sports at these Games. The final number of sports, age categories and male/female teams we enter will depend on interest and importantly, ability. Currently these are the potential sports:
Please note: the cost per person for Maccabiah 2021 has not been finalised. We will communicate all financial info as soon as available. In the interim, we encourage all interested persons to attend trials to compete for a place in #TeamMaccabiSA21.
The first set of trials are taking place in early 2020 for futsal, tennis and water polo, details as follows:
FUTSAL BOYS U16 (born 2005-6) and u18 (born 2003-4)
Sun 23 February, Discovery Soccer Park, Wanderers.
Both age groups to attend two sessions: 9-11am and 3-5pm (times still tbc)
Cape Town (including selected Jhb players):
Sun 19 April, Herzlia High School, 9am-12pm
WATER POLO BOYS U18 (born 2003-06):
Cape Town: Sun 15 March, Herzlia High School, 9am-12pm

SPORTS FESTIVAL 2020
Maccabi SA is also planning a Multi-Sports Festival to be held on 24-27 April in Johannesburg and has appointed Ryan Kalk as Tournament Director. Certain sports will use this event as their Maccabiah trials, while other sports will offer a great opportunity for participation and competition for all ages. The provisional sports on offer include chess, cricket, golf, lawn bowls, netball, soccer, rugby and tennis. All details will be communicated as soon as finalised.
