The team achieved a resounding victory in the quarter final, winning 26-5. They then competed in the Plate Semi-Final, narrowly losing 10-7 in a hard fought game.<\/p>\n
The squad was managed and coached by Maccabi SA Rugby Convenor Brad Berger, assisted by Jon Biderman-Pam. Senior players included Brent Kier and Dylan Koll from Pirates, and Jesse Willensky and Nick Zille from\u00a0UCT.<\/span><\/p>\n Maccabi SA was one of the youngest teams competing in the tournament, but this did not deter them as they gave it their all until the final whistle.<\/p>\n The Maccabi Player of the Tournament was UCT\u2019s Tom Walker, whose father Brett was in the powerful SA team that brought home gold from the 1989 Maccabi Games. Junior Player of the Tournament was Jake Rosen from King David Linksfield.<\/p>\n \u2018\u2019The standard of play shown by the boys was impressive and I am extremely proud of what they achieved. I am also very encouraged to see the strong group of Juniors who are coming through our ranks,\u2019\u2019 said Berger. \u2018\u2019Once again a big thank you to our physio Farrell Cohen who provided excellent medical care, and to Ashley Kotzin, CEO of Forwardzone, who again generously sponsored the team,\u201d added Berger.<\/p>\n \u2018\u2019We are incredibly proud to be associated with the Maccabi SA 10\u2019s rugby team for a second year.
