The aim of the training camp was to ensure that the squad (made up of boys from both CT and JHB) were fully integrated with one another as a team and cement in the basic fundamentals of Futsal. The camp took place over 5 days and was comprised of both tactical and fitness training and also some friendly matches and social events such as a team braai.
Ronen Cohen, coach of the team said. “I thought the first training camp was great, the energy was fantastic, the effort was fantastic and the team’s attention to detail was good. We started to put some ideas in their heads in terms of some combination play, movement off the ball, ball retention, overlap runs and techniques like that. It was a little rough for us all at times with some sessions starting as early as 7 in the morning, but that’s to be expected during a camp of this nature.”
The team has been training intensely twice a week since March this year, proving that they are on a quest to win gold at the games next year.
