Please help us support Kids Haven NPO

6 May 2020
Maccabi SA is part of the Zionist Youth Council CAN initiative to collect much needed items for Kids Haven.

The Zionist Youth Council Community Action Network (CAN) is collecting food items, food vouchers, blankets, warm clothing and masks for the Kids Haven NPO. They are working with Angel Network, Gauteng Together and the various organisations which form part of the Council.

As we all face the enormous challenges bought on by the Covid-19 pandemic we are reminded daily of the trials and tribulations facing our country and those who desperately need our help.

Kids Haven is a registered NPO and Children’s Home situated in Benoni, with community programmes for vulnerable children and youth in eMandleni, eTwatwa and Daveyton.

There are 153 boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 21 living in the home with 21 carers who are in lockdown with the children. The children are placed at Kids Haven through the courts or brought by police and community members. These children typically come from homes in dire poverty, where there is abuse or severe neglect. Children living and working on the streets come to Kids Haven too. Kids Haven provides 100% of the needs of each child, including food, a home, caring responsible adults, clothing, schooling and sport or cultural activities. Kids Haven also offers therapy to children with serious trauma and ensures their medical needs are taken care of.

To find out more about the organization you can go to their website at www.kidshaven.co.za.

They are in desperate need of food, clothing and especially masks at the moment.

There will be different drop off points around JHB and they can also collect. If you wish to donate money, it will be used to buy the necessary items.
