2025 Maccabi Games postponed to 2026

16 June 2025
The 2025 Maccabi games have been postponed due to the security situation in Israel.

The Maccabi Games have been postponed to 2026. This is absolutely the right decision. The safety of our delegation has always been our priority and it was clearly no longer feasible for the Games to go ahead at this time.

We look forward to competing in our 21st Games in 2026 in a peaceful and prosperous Israel, in what will surely be a memorable celebration of sport and the Jewish people.

Organising a Maccabiah is an enormous undertaking and we are grateful to Maccabi World Union for their support, leadership and ongoing efforts in the most difficult of circumstances.

A big thank you to our volunteer team of managers, coaches and medical staff, who have worked tirelessly to get Team SA ready. This spirit of volunteerism which is the vital engine of Maccabi is truly remarkable. Kol HaKavod to all of you.

Most importantly, our thanks to all our athletes who have been training so hard in preparation for these Games. Your commitment and sporting passion has brought us such nachas. We deeply feel your disappointment and encourage you to stay the course as we look forward to announcing our talented and proudly South African team for Maccabiah 2026.

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Israel, her brave soldiers and pilots, and the safe return of the hostages.

Am Yisrael Chai.
