The “Jewish Olympics” which was postponed from 2021 to accommodate the Summer Olympics, takes place in three host cities – Jerusalem, Haifa and Netanya, with some hotels also located in Tel Aviv.
The 2022 Games will have 44 sports, including new sports: Junior: 3v3 Basketball, Beach Football; and Open: 3v3 Basketball, Beach Football, Bouldering, Sailing, Skateboarding, Surfing and the return of Weightlifting;).
There are also new disciplines in certain sports, including Junior Field Hockey (Girls), Open Cycling BMX and Track; and Masters Men’s Cricket 40+, Football 55+, Futsal 45+ and Masters Women’s Netball 35+ and Volleyball 35+.
Maccabi SA focuses on those sports which have the most interest, participation and importantly, talent! In addition to the sports listed on the Sports Section of our website, we are also exploring interest in competing in Basketball, Bridge and Chess for the 2022 Games. Our final list of sports that we will be entering will be confirmed in early 2021. If there are any sports which we do not offer but at which you excel and would like to compete in, please contact us. A reminder that athlete participation in the Games is open to Jewish persons only.
At Maccabi SA, we are using this additional time to provide the best possible preparation and delivery of hopefully our most successful delegation ever. We will provide further info on trials and plans as soon as finalised.
We look forward to marching into the Opening Ceremony on 14 July 2022, flying our SA flag with pride.
We are #TeamMaccabiSA22. Are You Game?
