BACKGROUND
Water polo has always been a popular sport and although Maccabi SA has not consistently competed at the Games, they achieved great success in the early years. South Africa won gold four years in a row at the 1950, 1953, 1957 and 1961 Maccabiah, followed by bronze medals in the following two Games (pictured: 1969 team). After a sabbatical, SA sent a team to the 1993, 2005 and 2017 Games.
CURRENT
Maccabi SA Water Polo is making a comeback and once more has it’s eye on a medal in 2022.
