Cycling (& Triathlon)

BACKGROUND

Maccabi SA cycling and triathlon is focused on the Games.

We first competed in cycling in the 2009 Games where Team Captain Issy Zimmerman won gold in the road race (age 40-49). In 2013, four riders brought home five medals (gold, 2 x silver, bronze), with SA champion cyclist Kevin Evans’ gold medal a highlight of the Games. In 2017, we upped the ante with four gold medals from Zimmerman (2), Jodi Zulberg (1) and Jared Poulton (1), and a silver for Zulberg.

In triathlon, SA first entered in 1993, competing in five Maccabiah to date and winning a total of 10 medals.

CURRENT

Track cycling has been added to the schedule for the 2022 Maccabiah so we are hoping to have a very competitive team at the Games. Criteria for the track events will be provided once all the details are received from Israel.
