Football is the biggest sport at the Maccabiah and one of the most competitive too. Although Maccabi SA has only won three medals (in 1977, 1981 and 1985), the teams have shown great potential against more experienced football nations.
The football programme leading up to the 2022 Maccabiah will follow on from the strong platform set up in 2016-2017, where an extensive Maccabi Programme was established. Maccabi SA sent some of the most competitive teams to the 2017 Games, with the squads undergoing professional coaching and training. We aim to emulate this same process in 2021, in preparation for the Games.
