BACKGROUND
Golf has been a successful sport for Maccabi SA at the Games since 1965, with both the team and individuals regularly winning gold, silver and bronze medals. Golf is one of five Maccabi SA sports that has won medals at every Games they have attended, bringing home a total of 54 medals to date. At the 2017 Games, the Juniors performed exceptionally well, winning the team gold and individual silver and gold.
Team SA has also achieved success at the Pan American Games, winning nine medals in 2003 and seven in 2007.
CURRENT
Maccabi SA Golf operates as an association of Maccabi SA and has a dedicated following of male and female golfers, from Juniors through to Super Seniors (65+).
One of the goals of Maccabi SA Golf is to select the best possible team to participate at the Games, however this is only one aspect of their mandate. Thanks to the handicap system, they aim to unite Jewish golfers of all abilities through a variety of national and local tournaments, providing the opportunity to compete but also meet up with old acquaintances and develop new friendships. Maccabi SA Golf is thus very much a social club as well, providing opportunities for elite players but also for recreational enthusiasts.
